Do you find yourself standing around a lot? When you do, you may want to take the opportunity to do a little bit of exercising. There are a variety of exercises you can do while standing up as you go about your daily routine whether it’s cooking, standing in line, or just waiting for your children to get out of school. Not only will you get a good workout, but you’ll feel good afterwards too.
Stand on Your Toes
This is an easy exercise to do if you find yourself waiting in line or you just have some nervous energy running through you. Focus your weight onto your toes and slowly lift yourself up. Hold the position for a few seconds before slowly lowering yourself back down. Take slow, even breaths as you repeat this a few times.
If you’re prone to fidgeting while waiting in line, doing this will help you to focus your nervous energy. This exercise is very subtle, and most of the time people won’t even know you’re exercising.
Sway Your Hips
Okay, so this is more like dancing than exercise, but it still counts. If you’re cleaning or find yourself with some free time, you may want to put on some music. Stand with your feet right beneath your hips, and begin to sway your hips from side to side. If you’re listening to music, you can sway your hips to the beat. Practice a circular motion with your hips going clockwise or counterclockwise. Repeat in the opposite direction as needed, and afterwards take short rests in between.
Stretch Out Your Quads
Do you want to do a little bit of stretching to help you get ready for a busy day? You can stretch your quads out to get ready for the day. You start by bending your leg back behind you, grab your foot, and stretch slowly with the front of your right quad. Repeat on both sides two to five times in order to get the full stretch. Afterwards your quads will fill nice and warmed up.
Work Out Your Abs
Are you in the mood to crack out some dance movies? You can warm up your abs and hips while you’re standing up and listen to music at the same time. Stand with your feet just a little wider than hip width apart, and begin to do figure eights with your hips. It’s a fun belly dancing move you can do at home while listening to music or warming up for an exercise.
These are some pretty simple workouts you can do in the comfort of your own home. Be sure to have fun while you exercise too!
